2025 Institute of Transportation Engineers - Student Leadership Summit

From January 31 to February 1, 2025, the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Ä¢¹½tvÍøÒ³°æ proudly hosted the 2025 Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Student Leadership Summit, an engaging and transformative event organized by the Florida Atlantic ITE Student Chapter. The event welcomed over 140 student participants from various Florida schools that host an ITE chapter, providing an opportunity to foster relationships with professionals in the industry, develop leadership skills, and understand how transportation engineering plays a crucial role in society.

  • Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Building Connections and Expanding Networks

The event kicked off on Friday afternoon with a warm welcome from a distinguished member of the ITE Board of International Directors. Attendees engaged in an ice-breaking exercise to share anecdotes and connect with peers. They were then able to participate in a resume review session facilitated by industry professionals, receiving one-on-one revisions to align with current industry expectations.

Skill Development and Career Growth

The Saturday program included specialized information sessions, keynote speakers, and activities designed to help students identify their strengths and integrate them into their academic and professional development. The morning sessions featured discussions on networking strategies and career development.

During lunch, the 2025 ITE International President delivered a keynote address, providing valuable insights into leadership and innovation in transportation engineering through personal connection.

The afternoon sessions focused on personal and professional growth, beginning with a workshop on identifying and leveraging strengths, facilitated by a career development expert. This was followed by the highly anticipated Elevator Pitch Workshop, where industry professionals helped students refine their communication skills. The day continued with a jeopardy-style competition featuring academic content related to transportation engineering.

The evening concluded with a Career Fair, featuring leading transportation organizations such as the Florida Department of Transportation, Volkert, Arcadis, Kittelson and Associates, Kimley-Horn, HNTB, CHA, and more.

Empowering the Leaders of Tomorrow

The 2025 ITE Student Leadership Summit was an inspiring experience that empowered students to become proactive and innovative leaders in the transportation industry. The College of Engineering and Computer Science remains committed to fostering educational excellence and professional development through events like this.
